African Botanics.

With a background in cosmetics, it's just natural for me to have a penchant for discovering new skincare and makeup lines. No matter where I travel, I make it my mission to find a new niche product... I tend to always look for emerging brands, usually made of organic ingredients and a little je ne sais quoi that makes it really special. Unfortunately for Boyfriend, he gets dragged from one beauty shop to another, smelling creams and oils with me. Our trip to New York City last week was no different. On my usual quest for the latest miracle potion, we visited numerous apothecaries and beauty stores across the city such as the legendary C.O. Bigelow and The Bathroom in West Village. Of course, we also stopped at Space NK, a London import I have long been a fan of. What caught my eye this time was a sustainable, cold pressed and entirely organic line of Marula oil from Los Angeles brand; African Botanics. Using Wild Grown African Marula Oil, African Green Rooibos Tea Extract, Grape Seed Oil, Pure African Muti Mud, Baobab Oil, Cape Camomile as well as Shea Butter (I could keep naming many more natural ingredients used but I'll stop here!), the line is uber high in antioxidant content making these magical concoctions powerful healers.

First thing I noticed after opening the Pure Marula Oil bottle back in my hotel room that night, was its light but deliciously sweet scent. Just a few drops warmed up between my fingers and padded on my skin already felt comforting. My skin soaked up the oil and felt instantly uplifted. I followed the application with my usual Rose Day Cream from Dr. Hauschka (I use it at night mixed with an oil, previously from Rodin). When trying a new product, I don't normally see a big difference when I wakeup the next morning but this time, I really did. My skin looked brighter, more even toned and radiant. More importantly, it felt great. No need to say that I am now hooked and it is a new addition to my already extensive daily skincare routine.
