Wedding bliss: a local affair.

Wedding bliss: a local affair.

I often get emails from you, dear readers, asking about my "real" favorite products, my beauty tips, restaurant recommendations and generally wanting to know me better. First, rest assured of the fact that, although we receive countless products to review on a weekly basis, we truly only write about the ones that we LOVE. Second, when I first started this blog, I truly only wanted to share my beauty and lifestyle discoveries to whomever had some spare time to read me.

Here's a glimpse at one of the most wonderful days of my life, my wedding day. As my first "personal" post, I chose to share this moment with you because it perfectly reflects my style (bohemian, effortless and simplistic), my love for good food and most importantly, my preferred local businesses listed below. Now, as half of a married couple now, I can attest that everything was carefully curated with both of our visions in mind ;) Fun fact: we did our reception entrance on one of our favorite songs, Kanye West's Black Skin Head... Can't get more personal than that!

Location: Grumman78 (Garage turned hidden gem, this restaurant serves awesome tacos using local & seasonal produce. Make sure catch their food truck across Montreal this summer!)

Decor & Props: Joe's Prop House (Possibly the best rental company for vintage-looking, original and rustic furniture in town. The background movie was Breakfast At Tiffany's; I grew up to adore Audrey Hepburn.)

Flower arrangements: Atelier Carmel (Carmel is as sweet as she is creative. Her effortless arrangements truly captured the aesthetics we were going for. She also understands the importance of a budget and will find the best options to meet both your financial & visual standards)

akeup: Bridesmaids: Blush and me: Kat & Lea  Both teams are close friends of mine and having such fun girls being part of our intimate day made it that much more special. Blush and Kat & Lea make sure to highlight women's natural beauty, both offer personalized services and truly care about the well being of the bride (and bridesmaids) on an otherwise very stressful day.

Hair: Priska Coiffure coiffed my bridesmaids and my dear friend Jonathan Lee from salon Pure worked his magic on me. Again, just like most of the people involved in the wedding, we kept it close to us; all friends and family! Priska and Jonathan are both veterans when it comes to hairstyling & special events and made it all happen that morning.

Dresses: All the dresses, including mine, are from BCBG. My Carrie Bradshaw-like "flower belt" came from Vera Wang for David's Bridal and Hubby's blue suit was inspired, despite his knowledge, by Ryan Gosling and came from Tiger of Sweden. I randomly found my gold hair piece Jennifer Behr on a business trip to NYC (available at Henri Bendel).

Food: While hors-d'oeuvres (charcuterie platters), drinks (spiked lemonade) and dinner were served by Grumman78, our sweet table was provided by one of our favorite neighborhood eateries Rustique Pie Kitchen. I would have never thought of having pies at a wedding until I discovered this quaint little spot, just a few streets from our home. They make the prettiest and tastiest bite size treats!

Our party favors came from Puretea, another great local business that focuses on offering delicious herbal beverages (some of them organic). Easy to work with, they made the process of customizing parting gifts a breeze!

Photography: Bernie & Molina. I've been friends with the couple for a little over a decade now... When they decided to become wedding photographers, I made sure to "book" them long before Justin and I even talked about marriage. I wouldn't have worked with anyone else. In fact, I would have changed my wedding date based on their schedule.  They are not only stupidly talented but they are loving, funny and very professional. Despite the fact that Molina was nearly 9 months pregnant on our big day, nothing stopped her from capturing timeless images. Without Bernie, Molina and their assistant Brandon, our wedding day would have been a just faint memory, impossible to describe with words...

Music by Le Gitan Noir (Ceremony) which we randomly discovered playing his beautiful melody on Ste-Catherine street in Montreal. DJ Manny Occean (Reception) is a resident DJ at Rachel Rachel in Montreal and friend of mine.

Special mentioned to my dearest gal Kim for coordinating everything on that day; you allowed us to not worry about a thing and fully enjoy every moment.
